Chris Schmocker tests his strength with one of Carsburg Transport’s Western Star prime-movers outside Snap Fitness in Kingaroy

August 23, 2013

Are you – or your team of mates – fit enough, strong enough and fast enough to pull a semi-trailer 20 metres? Well, here’s your chance to find out …

As part of this year’s Motors In Motion Festival, which will be held at Kingaroy Aerodrome on November 2, individuals and teams of five will be timed pulling a Carsburg Transport semi-trailer over a set course.

Individuals will pull the Western Star prime-mover; teams will pull the prime-mover plus trailer.

Kingaroy resident Damien Martoo is organising the event, with funds raised going to assist three charities: River’s Gift (to fund SIDS research), Kidney Health Australia, and Beyond Blue.

Trophies will be awarded to the fastest man in two divisions – over 100kg and under 100kg; and the fastest woman (yes, women are invited to test their strength, too!); and to the fastest team.

Entry cost is $40 per individual or $120 per team of five. The entry fee will include a free T-shirt.

So far, about 10 individuals and five teams have registered.

Damien said there was a strictly limited number of places available so anyone interested should contact him ASAP.

He was hoping that sporting clubs – football teams, netball teams, cricket teams etc – would be interested in the teams competition as well as groups from local gyms.

He is also hoping to attract sponsorship from local businesses.

“We can hang their banners off the bull-bars on the truck and along the sides of the truck and trailer,” he said.

He said he would like to thank Carsburg Transport, Snap Fitness and Mass Nutrition who had come on board to support the event so far.
