The Department of Transport and Main Roads yesterday began works to widen the shoulders along part of the D’Aguilar Highway on the outskirts of Kingaroy.

The works will be completed on a 4.32km section from Rogers Drive to the rest area south of Redmans Road.

The work will also include associated drainage and some roadside clearing works.

A department spokesman said that due to the nature of the work, the project team may need to temporarily restrict vehicle access to private properties for a short time while works are underway.

“Please be assured provision has been made within the program of works to keep any property access restrictions to a minimum, and the on-site crew will assist with access requirements,” the spokesman said.

“Motorists should expect changed conditions including speed limit reductions and safety signage while works are underway. TMR will work closely with the contractor to minimise any impacts as much as possible.

“All road users are urged to drive to the changed traffic conditions and obey all signage and traffic controllers’ directions. TMR thanks you in advance for your co-operation and understanding while these important works are underway.

“The project will be delivered by RoadTek, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2013, weather permitting.

“If you would like further information about the project, please contact TMR in Gympie on (07) 5482-0341 during business hours or by email.”
