Kingaroy Police are suggesting seniors in the local community mark Seniors Week (August 17-25) by picking up copies of brochures containing handy tips on how to live safely.

A police spokesman said Seniors Week celebrated and recognised the valuable role that older Queenslanders play in the community and their right to safety and a lifestyle without fear.

“As a senior it is important that you are able to enjoy your home, community and lifestyle in comfort and security,” he said.

Police have copies of several free and informative brochures and booklets which containmany useful hints to help people live safely.

“These brochures suggest ways in which seniors can increase their feeling of confidence in their own security by reducing the opportunities for crime,” the spokesman said.

“Pick up your copies of these helpful brochures from your local Senior Citizens Centre or local Police Station or they can be downloaded from the Queensland Police website.”
