A Blackbutt woman is seeking assistance from the public in the wake of a road crash near Kingaroy in April in which her father was killed and her mother badly hurt.
“My beloved father Michael Meechan was killed and my mother Sylvia Meechan seriously injured in this accident,” Koral Meechan told southburnett.com.au
“My mother has now been released from hospital and is recovering back home in Blackbutt.
“The accident was a result of my mother hitting a massive pothole and then the build up of tar next to it – a preventable accident.
“The family are seeking witnesses to the accident or to the condition of the road, in particular this pothole.
“We have heard a number of other people’s ‘near-miss’ experiences.
“We would be particularly keen to hear from people who have complained officially about either this pot hole or the state of the roads around this area (D’Aguilar Highway near Kingaroy – near the church), as well as from people who have themselves been in accidents as a result of the state of the road.
“Your assistance would be most gratefully received!
“Support from the people of Blackbutt, Kingaroy and friends and family throughout Australia, NZ and the UK has been, and continues to be, tremendous.
“It has contributed enormously to my mother’s recovery.
“The entire family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the community’s generosity of spirit.
“I know people generally ‘don’t like to be involved’ but please make an exception.”
