Residents in the Wondai, Tingoora and Cherbourg areas will be seeing more smoke around over the next few days, but there’s no need to panic.
The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service is conducting planned burns within the McEuen and Wondai State Forests as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.
The aim of the burns is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas within the forest. This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.
