A 63-year-old South Burnett man has been incinerated in a car fire at Ellesmere in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Officer-in-Charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the man had been visiting a residence in Parker Road, Ellesmere, and left about midnight on Monday.
However as he was driving down the property’s long driveway, the car ran off into a culvert and became engulfed in flames.
The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The burned out vehicle was located by the property’s residents on Tuesday morning.
Snr Sgt Frank said police were at the scene all day yesterday.
Police forensic crash investigators, Queensland Fire and Rescue Service investigators, Scenes of Crimes officers and local detectives all attended.
Snr Sgt Frank said investigations were continuing into the cause of the man’s death and the reason why the vehicle ran off the driveway.
As the incident occurred on private property, the man’s death will not be added to Queensland’s official road toll.
