Kingaroy police are urging anglers to always keep an eye on their property when they’re camping at local dams.
Although there have been no thefts recently, a police spokesman urged people competing in fishing competitions or tournaments to be aware of “property security”.
“Items such as generators, fishing rods, eskies and other portable camping equipment represent easy targets for opportunistic thieves,” the spokesman said.
“Boat trailers may also be easy targets for thieves unless they are securely locked.
“Other valuable items such as wallets, phones and electronic devices should also always be securely locked away, out of sight.”
The spokesman said it may also be a good time to consider engraving your property.
“This may act as a deterrent to thieves and also assist in recovery should items be stolen,” he said.
“Visit your local police station for assistance with engraving.”
