Carers in Cherbourg will benefit from a $128,000 Federal Government grant to the Ny-ku Byun Respite Service.
Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss said the funding would provide centre-based day respite support to 18 carers; in home day respite to six carers, and overnight community respite to six carers.
It is being provided through the National Respite for Carers Program.
“The program assists the carers of frail older Australians, as well as those people with dementia and challenging behaviours, by helping to support and maintain the relationship between carers and their family members or friends who receiving their care,” Mr Truss said.
“This assistance is vital to ensure that carers are able to continue the special support that they offer to the frail and elderly.”
