A fire which destroyed a home at Gordonbrook on Sunday afternoon is not being treated as suspicious.

Three fire crews were called to the blaze at 3:50pm on Carews Road but found the house had been totally destroyed.

An Emergency Services spokesman said fire crews made the location safe before leaving at 4:30pm, leaving police on the scene to investigate.

Officer-in-Charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank. said the occupant of the house was not at home when the fire began.

No one was injured.

The implementation of a new police structure in Queensland on July 1 will make little difference to local police except for a change in reporting pathways.

Currently, local stations report to the Gympie District Office, which is part of the North Coast Region.

Stations located within the South Burnett Regional Council area – plus Cherbourg and Yarraman – will now be shifting into the Southern Region.

Snr Sgt Duane Frank said local OICs would report to a Patrol Inspector based at Dalby. The chain of command would then continue to a District Officer in Roma and an Assistant Commissioner in Toowoomba.

He said the emphasis in policing locally would remain on road safety and personal safety, and working with the community to resolve local issues.
