The Farm Financial Counselling service that was to wind up at the end of this month has enjoyed a reprieve.
Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said today Alan Broome would continue to be available to producers into the new financial year and was then expected to move into a contract with the Federal Rural Farm Financial Counselling Service.
As well, a new adviser, Mr Ian Buck, would be available for producers in the South Burnett into the next financial year.
Mr Buck can be contacted on 0428-880-645.
“The LNP Government recognises the impact of the floods in the South Burnett and has put a range of services in place to help farmers get through these difficult times,” Mrs Frecklington said.
“These services include farm financial counselling services, Industry Recovery Officers and a locally based QRAA officer.
“The farm financial counselling support is a free, confidential service to help flood affected farmers understand their financial position and assess carry-on finance requirements for recovery.”
Mrs Frecklington said the services on offer were specifically about helping people respond to the impact the floods have had on their farms.
“This may include assessing their current financial position, cash flow analysis to aid recovery, options for best use of financial assistance available from government, and completing applications to QRAA for assistance,” she said.
“The LNP Government will continue to monitor the progress of recovery and provide additional resources as required.”
