The axe is about to fall for good on the Farm Financial Counselling Service based at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry complex in Kingaroy.
The service, run by Alan Broome, was cancelled in last year’s State Budget but received a temporary reprieve after the January floods.
However, this reprieve extended only until the end of June and there has been no indication from the State Government that this deadline will be extended again, despite the fact the flood recovery effort is still underway in the South Burnett.
Counsellor Alan Broome has been kept busy since the floods and has been a regular fixture at the various Recovery Information meetings that have been held around the region.
The service has been providing farmers with one-on-one assistance, including QRAA applications.

Another Community Recovery Information Gathering Breakfast will be held on Wednesday morning in Kingaroy.
The free breakfast, from 7:00am-9:00am, will be held in the Kingaroy Town Hall Forecourt in Glendon Street.
There’ll be an opportunity for people affected by this year’s floods to talk one-on-one with support agencies, including the Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries, QRAA, Agforce, BIEDO, BlazeAid and Centacare South Burnett.
