Barambah travelled to take on Wests in the First Division soccer match played at Kingaroy on Saturday; with Wests’ win over Gunners last week and Barambah’s improving form, the game, as expected, was very tight.
Barambah took the initiative early and pressed the Wests’ defence to the limit.
Daure Moses tormented the Wests’ defence but could not capitalise despite several scoring chances.
Wests eased their way back into the match and were rewarded when Harry Stirling found the back of the Barambah net from a free kick just outside the penalty box in the 25th minute.
The match then opened up into end-to-end action with both teams sharing the possession.
Barambah started the second half with more vigour and desperately went searching for an equaliser. They also put their well-organised offside trap into action, frustrating Wests’ attacking efforts.
Despite all their hard effort and a number of chances, Barambah could not find the back of the net.
In the 82nd minute, Wests scored their second via Josh Harley from a cleverly played through ball which breached the offside trap and Barambah defence.
All in all, a good display from both sides and it is only a matter of time before a much-improved Barambah get their first win.
It was hard to choose any standout players from either side but Jamie Neil, Jaimen Tunstell and Harry Stirling were great for Wests while Daure Moses, David Eagleson and Andrew Fennell were best for Barambah.
Wests now jump Gunners into second position on the competition table and their next match against Nanango could prove to be very interesting.

In the Women’s match, an under-manned (womaned?) Wests managed a last gasp goal against Barambah.
The game was very close with both sides having the opportunity to take the points. However eight minutes out from full-time Kahlie Rauert put her side into the lead. It was her second goal from as many appearances.

In Second Division, Barambah finally played to their potential with a convincing 5-0 win over Wests.
After leading by one at half-time from a Luke Holland penalty, they went on with the job in the second half, bulldozing Wests with an avalanche of goals.

In the other games, Nanango once again had a clean sweep and beat Gunners in all three grades.
Kieran Mangan found some form scoring a hat-trick of goals.
