Workplace Health and Safety inspectors have been called in to investigate an incident which occurred at the Kingaroy tip on Monday in which a man suffered severe crushing injuries.

About noon, an employee of a private bin hire company was injured at the waste management facility in Luck Road.

The man was working with a skip bin near a front end loader when the incident occurred.

South Burnett Regional Council CEO Ken McLoughlin said ambulance personnel stabilised the man on site and then transported him to Kingaroy Hospital.

He was later transferred by air to a Brisbane hospital for further treatment.
