Yarraman residents have been promised a more seamless link with Toowoomba Regional Council following the appointment of a Community Liaison Officer for the northern end of the region.
Ms Caley Quinn will be based at Yarraman for two days per week from June 3.
The other three days she will be based in Crows Nest.
A council spokesman said this new position would involve working closely with community organisations in the Yarraman and Crows Nest areas, with an emphasis on “day-to-day liaison and pro-active support of community groups and core Council events”.
Ms Quinn has completed a Masters of Social Work and recently worked as the Lockyer Valley Region Council Case Manager and Project Officer during the recovery from the Grantham floods.
As the first point of contact with Council, Ms Quinn will help resolve issues involving all levels of government and focus on supporting councillors in their community engagement activities.
As part of the role, Ms Quinn will also assist in co-ordinating and administrating Council’s Community Support Program.
The appointment of a Community Liaison Officer for Yarraman was promised by Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio at a community consultation meeting held in Yarraman on March 13.
