Children can now play safely in a fenced area in Wooroolin Park, thanks to the Wooroolin/Tingoora Lions Club and the South Burnett Regional Council.
The park, which is located on the busy Bunya Highway, is a popular meeting place for residents and visitors alike and now parents can take their children into an area where they’ll be safely guarded by a new fence, donated by Council and installed by the Lions Club.
“We appreciated the Lion’s Club coming to us with the suggestion and manpower to help us fence the Wooroolin Park,” Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said today.
“Wooroolin has many young families who’ve preferred to travel to other towns because they feel more at ease when their children are playing in a fenced area.”
Cr Cheryl Dalton said the project was a wonderful example of the Wooroolin Lions and Council working in partnership to enable community needs to be met in a way that Council can afford.
“I am so pleased for the families in the area that they now have a safe play area for their children and a meeting place for families with children,” she said.
“There was a group using the park for a children’s party today which would not have been possible without the fencing as the park is on a busy road.
“Anyone who has been to a park with more than one child knows how difficult it is without a fence.”
