It was a cold night – and numbers were down on last year’s event – but organisers were still happy with the special community concert held in Kingaroy on Sunday night promoting health and well-being.
The “It’ll Be Alright In The Long Run” concert, by John Schumann and Hugh McDonald and their band The Vagabond Crew, played all the Redgum favourites, including “Diamantina Drover”, “I’ve Been To Bali Too” and “I Was Only 19”.
There were also musical versions of several Henry Lawson poems, including “Scots of the Riverina” and “The Bush Girl”.
The concert was presented by Rural & Remote Mental Health Ltd with funding provided by the Federal Government’s National Suicide Prevention Program.
Other sponsors included Stanwell, the South Burnett Regional Council, Downer EDI Mining and the Bendigo Bank.
Stalls from various health providers and welfare agencies lined the Town Hall Forecourt for people to pick up brochures or ask questions.
There was also free hot food available, and coffee and cold drinks for sale.
Brochures detailing information about where to get help from various health services were also distributed.
Copies of this brochure, prepared for the South Burnett Suicide Prevention Working Group, are also available at Centacare South Burnett.
