Metropolitan North players accept the QRSSL 18 & Under Trophy

May 26, 2013

Metropolitan North beat South Coast 30-24 today in the nail-biting grand final of the four-day Queensland School Sport Rugby League State Championships at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy.

In an even match, both teams battled it out with barely a two-point difference between them for most of the game.

The tide turned for Metropolitan North in the final eight minutes, however, when a try and a conversion put them six points ahead of their rivals – a lead South Coast were unable to reverse in the remaining time despite a valiant effort to do so.

Meanwhile, at Kingaroy State High School’s oval this morning, Wide Bay and Metropolitan West battled out a hard-fought 24-all draw in the Consolation Cup match, with Metropolitan West just managing to equalise in the dying minutes of the game.

The carnival concluded with the presentation of awards and the announcement of the QSSRL U18 Queensland Team for 2013.
