One Queenslander will take home the title of “The Ultimate Queenslander” and the prize package as part of Queensland Week.
Premier Campbell Newman said today The Ultimate Queenslander competition was being run to find “real people with the Queensland spirit”.
“You might be patriotic about wearing maroon with pride, be known for baking a great pineapple cake, have written a Queensland song, or love collecting Queensland memorabilia,” Mr Newman said.
“By entering your photo or video, you’ll go into the draw for a fantastic holiday prize package to one of Queensland’s own holiday destinations, Hayman Island.”
The lucky winner and three friends will spend two nights on Hayman Island and get the chance to meet Queensland’s favourite cricketer, Matthew Hayden.
“It’s been fantastic growing up in Australia’s lifestyle state Queensland, with the sun, the surf and the fabulous people, all of which have provided great support to me both during and after my playing career,” Mr Hayden said
“It feels good to give back and support the Queensland Government’s initiative to find Queensland’s Ultimate Queenslander and I look forward to spending time on what I consider to be one of the most beautiful locations, Hayman Island.”
Entries are now open and will close on Monday, June 10.
A shortlist of entries will be made available for public voting for one week, with The Ultimate Queenslander announced on Wednesday, June 19.
