Wondai’s South Burnett Race Club and the Nanango Race Club will each receive cash injections as part of $2 million being distributed across Queensland through the State Government’s 2012/13 Training Track Subsidy Scheme.
Nanango will receive $8000 and the South Burnett Race Club will receive $4000.
Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the funding injection would be welcome news for the local community.
“This funding will help to offset the cost to race clubs of providing training facilities and keeping the industry viable in the local area,” Mrs Frecklington said.
Racing Minister Steve Dickson said the Training Track Subsidy Scheme was a part of the State Government’s commitment to rejuvenating racing in Queensland.
“We’re providing an immediate injection of $1.2 million in funds to 37 thoroughbred race clubs this month, while a further $800,000 will be available for distribution later this financial year. The remaining $800,000 will be available for clubs on the basis of the number of thoroughbred runners competing from those training facilities,” he said.
“This is an incentive to clubs to ensure they are attracting thoroughbred trainers to utilise their facilities.”
