Category C and D disaster assistance has been extended to all producers in the Toowoomba Regional Council area.
Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said Premier Campbell Newman had written to Prime Minister Julia Gillard requesting the extension, as previously only parts of Toowoomba were declared eligible under the assistance program.
“This is great news for our primary producers in these areas who have been waiting on this news for some time,” Mrs Frecklington said.
Mrs Frecklington thanked the individuals, industry groups and Toowoomba Regional Council for lobbying for the extension and for helping to get together the necessary information to build the case for assistance.
