The Boondooma Dam Fish Stocking and Management Association is confident the weather will be great for this year’s Yellowbelly Fishing Competition.

Boondooma Dam’s water quality has improved since the record flooding earlier in the year. And while fishing is expected to be tough, quality fish are still expected to be caught.

The 2013 competition is scheduled for May 4-5 and the local council and camping area managers have done a great job to ensure the camping area and facilities are ready for the expected big crowd.

Ongoing support from event sponsors has ensured a wide range of prizes and lucky draws are available for competitors.

Food and drinks stalls will be provided by local community groups over the weekend and entry costs remain at $20 for adults and $5 for juniors aged 16 years and under.

Nominations will be accepted from noon on Friday at competition HQ.

The competition itself will run from 5:00am on Saturday to 10:00am on Sunday.

Competition entry fees do not include the cost of camping at the lake. The cost of camping fees and details of accommodation options at the lake can be found on the South Burnett Regional Council’s website or by ringing the Lake Boondooma kiosk on (07) 4168-9694.

All anglers also need to have a current Stock Impoundment Permit. Permits can be purchased from the kiosk at Lake Boondooma or online at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry website.
