Some people just can’t wait to get a bargain. The Kingaroy Baptist Church’s annual Lawn Fair – which raises funds for the church’s missions – was supposed to get underway at 8:00am on Saturday morning but eager buyers were turning up at 7:00am.
When southburnett.com.au dropped by, the church’s missions co-ordinator Russ Lebsanft was pleased at how the sale had been going … and there was still several hours left to run.
“People have been continually drifting in,” he said.
But he said it was strange how items went through cycles.
“Last year, it was big on furniture; this year we’re having trouble moving it.”
All the goods for sale were donated by parishioners, their friends and family.
Some of the items came from as far away as Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast.
The success of the Lawn Fair sale is the second piece of good news for the Kingaroy Baptist Church recently.
Over Easter, thieves broke into the church and stole a computer (but not alcohol, as reported elsewhere).
However, police have apparently tracked down the thief.
“The computer has been returned which is a blessing,” Russ said.
