Former Redgum lead singer and guitarist John Schumann will be the guest speaker at a business breakfast being organised in Kingaroy next month.
The breakfast, at Accents Restaurant, is being hosted by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington, and will focus on health and well-being in the South Burnett community.
Redgum is probably best remembered these days for “I was Only 19 (A Walk In The Light Green)” which has become an anthem for Australian Vietnam war veterans.
In 2009-10, Schumann worked with the Australian Defence Force’s Directorate of Mental Health on a program to address post-traumatic stress disorder in the army.
He has also worked with the Victorian Bushfire recovery and Reconstruction Authority, helping to deliver mental health programs to men.
In February last year, Schumann and Hugh McDonald, with their band The Vagabond Crew, rocked the Kingaroy Town Hall forecourt to help spread the word about health and well-being as part of the “It’ll Be Alright In The Long Run” tour.
Cost to attend the breakfast, which will be held from 6:45am on May 3, is $20. Bookings are essential.
To make a reservation, contact the Nanango Electorate Office on (07) 4162-1381.
