South Burnett Junior Rugby League Committee is pleased to announce that Petero Civoniceva will be in the South Burnett Region on May 16-17.

The Australian Rugby League Commission recognises we are a nation of diverse cultures and beliefs and that rugby league can play a pivotal role in developing tolerant, cohesive communities.

NRL’s One Community has developed a powerful new ‘Tackle Bullying’ DVD that aims to empower students to stand up for themselves and others who are being bullied.

We the committee of South Burnett Junior Rugby League have realised that bullying is a major problem in our region and we want to help our community with this problem.

Petero will not only be attending rugby league clubs but also State and High schools in South Burnett region.

We would like to encourage parents to show their support by attending these appearances.

Bullying is not simply “part of growing up”. It is a destructive behaviour.

The effects of bullying can be very damaging, leaving those that have been bullied to feel alone, unsafe, afraid, stressed,  ashamed and rejected.

Bullying can also have an affect on someone’s self-esteem and in some cases lead to depression and suicide.

The South Burnett Junior Rugby League committee feel privileged that the NRL is allowing us the opportunity of Petero to visit our region.

This can only benefit our entire community and help to stop bullying in South Burnett.
