The Nanango Show Society is looking forward to a bumper 104th Nanango Show on Saturday.
And last Saturday night the Society crowned Miss Nanango Showgirl, Miss Teen Showgirl, Miss Junior Showgirl and their 2013 Rural Ambassador in the traditional curtain-raiser for this keystone annual event.
Judging for this year’s competition took place at a special dinner for 70 people held at Ringsfield House.
Judges Maree Hammond from Blackbutt, Ted Wall from Nanango and Davina Sanders from Brisbane put all the entrants through their paces before selecting the ultimate winners.
They were:
- Miss Nanango Showgirl – Emma Cramp
- Runner-Up – Louise Black
- Miss Teen Showgirl – Tori Somers
- Miss Junior Showgirl – Robyn Sawtell
- Rural Ambassador – Lindsay Blanch.
Show Society secretary Gloria Fleming said she was delighted with the quality and quantity of contestants who entered this year’s competition, and thought the three judges did a very good job selecting the winners.
She said the committee was looking forward to Saturday’s Show and thought it would be a particularly strong one.
“The weather forecast at the moment is cloudy, but the Showgrounds themselves are looking beautiful and we already have sideshow operators and exhibitors getting ready for the big day,” she said.
“It should be a really great show, and I hope as many people as possible come along to enjoy it.”
