RHealth has been successful in obtaining funding to conduct a program aimed at improving the health of truck drivers in the South Burnett.

“We have been successful in obtaining funding under the Healthy Workers Initiative (a joint Australian, State and Territory Government initiative) to conduct research and interventions to improve the health and well-being of people employed in the transport industry,” RHealth President Dr Ross Hetherington said.

RHealth will develop, deliver and evaluate workplace based interventions addressing physical inactivity and unhealthy eating of truck drivers, working with a number of workplaces and their employees.

“In addition to this, we are continuing our work in the mining and energy sector through workplace wellness programs targeting nutrition, physical activity, mental health and supportive environments,” Dr Hetherington said.

NB. RHealth’s Healthy Lifestyles program is still expected to finish in June, but this new Transport program and other programs running will ensure that the office in Haly Street, Kingaroy, remains open past that date.
