Dan Burnet ... memorial fund has been set up

April 5, 2013

A scholarship fund has been launched in memory of the late Dan Burnet, from Booubyjan, who died on March 16 after a tragic accident in Rome.

Dan, from Springbrook Host Farm, and his wife Joanna are well-known for their VisitOz program, which has been offering agricultural training and work experience to thousands of young overseas visitors for more than 20 years.

He also operated Spring Gully Olives and was a familiar face selling olive products at various South Burnett shows and festivals.

Dan had been visiting Rome for the 2013 Work Experience Travel Market and IAPA Annual Conference (WETM-IAC) when the accident occurred.

He died in hospital.

A memorial service will be held for Dan at Springbrook Farm from 11:30am today.

Dan was born in the United Kingdom and rose to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Engineers.

WYSE Travel Confederation and Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) have worked together with the Burnet family to create a memorial fund in Dan’s name.

All donations will go towards a youth program to continue providing travel opportunities for young people.
