Mini heroes … Thurston Wilkins, 5, and his brother Braxton, 6, from Nanango

March 22, 2013

It was night for super-heroes in Nanango this evening … Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman were all in attendance at the Blue Light Disco.

Even the police officer in charge, Sgt Jason Newton, was wearing a cape.

The night was a special fundraiser to help send four local children – members of the Blue Light Student Committee – on a week-long trip to Canberra at Easter.

Constable Kenita (“Ken”) Avery said the children had won the trip after she put in application.

She said the children, all aged 14, had earned the holiday because of all their hard work and contributions to organising the Blue Light discos over the past year.

The Blue Light Student Committee, which is based at Nanango State High School, chose the theme for tonight’s disco as well as selecting all the music.
