CROW-FM brekkie announcer Chris "Corky" Corcoran will be taking donations on air on Sunday

March 8, 2013

The Mayor’s Red Earth South Burnett Flood Appeal has raised an incredible $17,500 so far but Mayor Wayne Kratzmann hopes it will get a big boost towards its goal of $50,000 at the weekend.

CROW-FM is running a “radiothon” from 8:00am on Sunday where listeners can ring in to purchase any of the 112 items which have been donated by local businesses and individuals.

There’s everything from a complete kitchen for sale to $1500 worth of floor coverings and $100 food vouchers.

A complete list of all the items up for offer in the Radiothon (excluding any last minute-additions made over the last 24 hours) can be obtained by clicking here.

Volunteers will be manning the phones. Listen to 90.7 CROW-FM on Sunday morning to hear the phone numbers to call.

Mayor Kratzmann told southburnett.com.au he was “over the moon” with the support that the flood appeal had received so far.

“Private businesses, community groups and schools have really got behind it,” he said.

He said service clubs and schools had also organised their own fundraising events.

Tickets are also selling fast for the Nissan Micra which is being raffled in an art union. The car, donated by Huston Motors, is worth $15,990.

Tickets are $5 each, three for $10 or a book of 10 for $20. They’ll be available at Kingaroy Shoppingworld until Saturday week … just look for the car parked near Big W.

The Nissan will then be moved around the region to allow residents in other towns the opportunity to purchase tickets.

The winning ticket will be drawn on June 1 by former Nine Network newsreader Heather Foord at the Mayor’s Charity Ball at the Kingaroy Town Hall.
