The famous Iona Passion Play – which has been presented somewhere in Australia at Easter every year since 1958 – will be coming to Kingaroy this month.
The play is based on the four Christian Gospels and depicts Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem, His trial, death and Resurrection.
It is based on a traditional European form.
The cast and crew are all volunteers who take time out of their daily lives to rehearse, perform and travel with the play each year.
They are often joined on stage by local residents.
In Kingaroy, their numbers will be swelled by local school students playing Roman soldiers and crowd extras.
The performances will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall on Saturday, March 23, with a matinee at 2:00pm followed by an evening performance at 7:00pm.
Tickets can be booked by phoning (07) 3333-1993 or online
An Early Bird ticket and a discount for groups of 10 or more are available if pre-booked.
