The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Board is looking for an experienced nurse to join the Board and help shape local health care service delivery.

Board Chair Mr Mike Horan said the Board, which was established in July last year, had a diverse membership from across the Darling Downs and South Burnett region.

“The Board has two members from each of the four geographic areas of the South Burnett, Western Downs, Southern Downs and Toowoomba,” he said.

“The current Board has a diverse and experienced skill mix but needs the knowledge and experience of a nurse to add to their deliberations on the future of healthcare across the Darling Downs.

“The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Board is accountable to the Minister for Health and our local communities to provide public health services safely, efficiently and effectively.

“We are putting patients first and giving communities more say in their local health service.

“The board travels around the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service (DDHHS) area and we are keenly interested in visiting hospitals, meeting health staff and talking with community members about the healthcare in their towns.

“Board members are also expected to serve on sub-committees and to engage with their local communities.”

For more information regarding this new nursing member role or to submit an Expression of Interest email the Board or phone (07) 4699-8404.

Closing date for expressions of interest is Monday, February 25.
