South Burnett tourism operators gathered in the new Pat Lee Meeting Room at Ringsfield House in Nanango last week to hear industry updates and discuss branding.

The “TAG” meeting (Tourism Advisory Group) heard presentations from representatives from Southern Queensland Country Tourism (SQCT)  and Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ).

SQCT is the regional tourism promotion body formed from the merger of Toowoomba Golden West and South Burnett Tourism and Southern Downs and Granite Belt Regional Tourism; TEQ has been formed from the merger of Tourism Queensland and Queensland Events.

Topics covered included marketing opportunities coming up and information about a Small-Scale Accommodation survey.

An “app” for smartphones which will assist visitors locate local tourism operators was also discussed.

Further TAG Meetings are scheduled to be held in the South Burnett on May 14, July 23 and November 12.
