The Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation (BIEDO) has extended its business services to help businesses and community groups affected by the Australia Day weekend floods.
“Our business pilots are available to help businesses affected by these floods through business advice or assisting people in applying for flood recovery grants or funding where available,” BIEDO CEO Linda Silburn said.
“Our business pilots are working very closely with our Grant Angels and the Farm Financial Counsellors to ensure we are able to help people from all industries and sectors.
“Over the last 18 months BIEDO has provided services to over 650 businesses in the South Burnett. Some of these businesses have been hit by these floods again and we wanted to offer an additional free hour of advice and assistance.
“The economic impact to some of our industries hasn’t even been measured yet.
“We are expecting calls from primary producers to increase over the next few weeks. In the last floods we prepared over 60 applications on behalf of primary producers and businesses.”
BIEDO offers assistance through face-to-face support, preparation of applications and co-ordination of information.
This information is then distributed across the region and updated on the BIEDO website and Facebook page.
