Agriculture Minister John McVeigh has invited graziers affected by the Bovine Johne’s Disease (BJD) outbreak to attend a meeting to be held soon in Gympie.
It is one of a series of meetings scheduled for throughout the State.
“All producers affected by BJD in Queensland will receive an invitation and are welcome to attend any of the meetings,” Mr McVeigh said.
“The meetings will act as a workshop for affected producers, their private vets, and government to collectively discuss the BJD response.
“These workshops are discussions at the grass roots and are following on from industry forums and teleconferences held since last November.
“They are in response to requests from producers who want to further discuss the BJD process.
“BJD is having a significant impact on many in the Queensland cattle industry so it’s important that we offer affected producers the opportunity to raise their concerns and be heard.
“These meetings will provide an opportunity for affected producers to ask questions about their situation to our panel of government and technical experts.”
The expert panel will include Biosecurity Queensland’s Chief Biosecurity Officer Dr Jim Thompson, BJD Industry Liaison Officer Dr Ron Glanville and BJD counsellor Campbell Trotter.
NB. This meeting is for affected producers only. It is not open to the general public, other graziers or the media
