The 2013 rugby league competition in the South Burnett will include at least five weeks of games played in the Central and North Burnett.

A meeting between the South Burnett and Central Burnett rugby league on Sunday confirmed a joint competition would be played this year although final details are yet to be worked out.

It is expected to be about a 15-week competition.

Kick-off is likely to be March 16 – the same day as the juniors – or the following week.

Four confirmed South Burnett A Grade teams will be taking part: Blackbutt, Kingaroy, Wondai and Cherbourg.

They will play games against five Central Burnett teams: Monto, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Eidsvold and Theodore.

Murgon decided last week it would not be fielding an A Grade side.

Nanango club president Jason Bellert said a decision by the Stags won’t be made until after their sign-on day on Sunday, February 3.

Greg Pomfret, from the South Burnett Rugby League, told southburnett.com.au that with nine – and possibly 10 – teams taking part it would be “as good a competition as you’ll get anywhere”.
