Nanango’s coming to Kingaroy … or at least a group of Nanango artists are!

“The Artists’ Verandah” – nine Nanango artists – have taken over the main gallery at the Kingaroy Art Gallery with a collection of their artworks.

The exhibition, which features works in many different media, will be officially opened on Friday night (January 11) and will run until February 4.

Refreshments will be available from 6:00pm.

The artists are a mix of established and emerging talents: Leasa Bailey, Megan Cridland, Dawn Gordon, Joy Hastings, Danielle Lawrence, Barbara Larsen, Wanda Lucas, Cherie Sibley and Jan Woods.

This is the first time the group of friends, who meet regularly to paint and draw, has exhibited together under a formal banner.

Kingaroy Art Gallery curator Fiona Kemp said “The Artists’ Verandah”  had come together after Megan invited a few ladies around to her house.

“The majority of the artists had been a part of our Christmas in July exhibition,” Fiona said.

“The Artists’ Verandah”  describe themselves as “individual artists who have a cohesive passion”.

Regular visitors will soon notice a difference at the Kingaroy Art Gallery.

Gallery 4 is being transformed into an art shop where local art, crafts and art supplies will be available for sale.

Fiona said she hoped to have the shop fully up and running by the end of this month.
