Murgon Crusaders batted first in their two-day A Grade match against Warriors at Murgon on Saturday.

The home team made 124 with Bernard Hopkins top-scoring with 27.  Lucas Sander also made a handy 22.

Best of the Warriors’ bowlers were Mitch Bunker (2/14) and Tom Webster (2/13).

In reply, Warriors were 5/224 at stumps.

Best of the Warriors’ batsmen so far are Andrew Askin (58), Tom Webster (44) and Steve Heness (39 n/o).

For the Crusaders, Andrew Rodderick has taken 2/28 and Dereck Sander 1/21.

Play will resume next Saturday.

Good news for the South Burnett!  

The sums have been done and the South Burnett has come out on top with the superior run rate which means that the local region will be hosting the final of the prestigious Goodchild Shield competition.

The match against Bundaberg will be played on Sunday, February 3, at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.

The South Burnett’s net run rate was 1.1173 while Bundaberg’s was 0.3441

UPDATE January 9, 2013: The Goodchild Shield game between South Burnett and Bundaberg will now be played on Sunday, February 10, at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy. The change of date has been brought about because the original date clashed with a carnival in Mundubbera.

In the second of the two-day A Grade matches, Kingaroy RSL proved too strong for Nanango, dismissing the Scorpions twice in one day to earn an outright victory (and a day off next week).

Nanango batted first and were all out for 65.

Best of the Kingaroy bowlers were Darren Geiger who took 4/14 off seven overs and Wayne Kelly, 4/11 off 5.3 overs.

In reply, Kingaroy RSL made 259. Top scorer was Mark Schmidt with 104. Best of the Nanango bowlers was Nick Krauksts who took 4/44 off nine overs.

Sent back in, Nanango were dismissed for just 29. This time, Darren Geiger took 6/12 off seven overs. and Tony Dugdell, 2/13 off nine overs.

In B Grade, Warriors defeated Colts by four wickets.

Colts were 6/232 after 40 overs with Karl Jones topscoring with 81, Barry Fisher (60) and Nev Kratzmann (30).

Best of the Warriors’ bowlers were Dane Bloomfield, 2/31 off five overs;  and Matt Nesbitt, 2/26 off  four overs.

In reply, Warriors made the target in the 39th over with 6/233.

Best of the Warriors batsmen were Steve Price (61), Paul Clegg (48) and Matt Nesbitt (31).

For Colts, Nev Kratzmann took 4/62 off eight overs and Barry Fisher 2/33 off eight overs.

Murgon Diggers won the toss and batted first in their B Grade match against Kingaroy RSL.

They made 130 with Nev Nixon the best of the batsmen with 43 and Tavis Hartwig (22).

Best of the Kingaroy RSL bowlers were Adam Geiger (5/33) and Lane Ferling (3/38).

In reply, Kingaroy RSL made 3/132 off 26 overs.

Aiden Maher (32) and Craig Sippel (29 n/o) were the top scorers while for Diggers, Clint Suchoronczak took 2/20.
