South Burnett Regional Council has imposed temporary emergency water restrictions for the Proston town area.
The restrictions are required as the Proston Water Treatment Plant has experienced a severe breakdown to a part of the infrastructure that treats water for the town supply.
Council has requested that water use be restricted to internal use and essential external use only, such as cleaning of windscreens, pet enclosures or emergency purposes. Watering of gardens and lawns is not permitted.
Council says it is endeavouring to repair the infrastructure as a matter of urgency and will advise on any change to the situation.
