The South Burnett Community Bank Group is inviting applications for its 2013 tertiary study scholarship.

The group will provide support to an academically capable local student to further their tertiary education.

Officially opening applications for the 2013 academic year, Community Bank chairman Noel Strohfeld said the program was designed to give the students an opportunity to pursue their dreams.

“We’re proud to financially support local students to continue their education which will not only be a benefit to them but also to the wider community,” he said.

The successful applicant will initially receive funding for one year and depending on academic performance, the scholarship may be renewed to assist the second year of study.

This is the second year that the group has awarded a scholarship.

The inaugural South Burnett Community Enterprises’ Scholarship (Yarraman and District Community Bank Branch & Blackbutt branch) supported local student Patrick Walsh with his studies at the University of St Lucia this year.

The South Burnett Community Enterprises’ Scholarship (Yarraman and District Community Bank Branch & Blackbutt branch) scholarship is part of one of Australia’s largest privately funded tertiary scholarship programs.

It is run in partnership with the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.

Applications close on Friday, January 25 and will be assessed in early 2013.
