At the Kingaroy RSL Club, club manager Maxine Tessmann presented the RACQ CareFlight service with a cheque for $2040.66, the proceeds from a series of raffles held at the club this year, including the popular Mother’s Day and Father’s Day raffles.
Maxine said the club planned to do the same thing next year.
RACQ CareFlight Rescue regional manager Wayne Evans said every rescue mission cost $12,500 and patients were charged nothing for their flights.
He said 47 per cent of CareFlight’s fundraising came through donations.
Over at the Kingaroy Coffee Lounge, South Burnett Mayor Cr Wayne Kratzmann drew the winning ticket from the recent Quota International Club of Kingaroy’s raffle to raise funds for the AGL Action Helicopter Rescue Service.
Club members have been selling raffle tickets in Shoppingworld for the past few months. First prize was a painting.
Club president Marie Shaw said a cheque for $1000 would be presented to an AGL Action Helicopter representative on December 14.
