Members of 135 ACU Wondai at their end-of-year awards parade on Saturday

Wondai army cadets held their end-of-year awards parade at the Wondai Netball courts on Saturday afternoon.

Captain (AAC) Ron Lewis, from headquarters (Enoggera), reviewed the parade and praised the cadets for the quality of their turnout.

A number of awards were presented to various cadets, as well as a promotion to Corporal announced for Kingaroy cadet Adelaide Hockenhull.

The Karl Sperling Memorial Award for most-improved 1st Year cadet was shared by two winners: cadets Elise Batt and Matthew Champney.

The Munduberra RSL Most Improved Award (for 2nd Year or older cadets) was won by Cadet Joshua Hill.

The Mundubbera Gun Club Best Shot Award was presented to Cadet Aidan Penfound.

The Dorothy Pratt Section Plaque was received by Cadet Corporal Nathan Kranz on behalf of 1 Section.

The unit introduced a new award for 2012: Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year.  Unit commanding officer Captain (AAC) Ron Fischer presented the award to Cpl Nathan Kranz.

Captain Fischer was also presented with a special award … for 10 years’ service to the cadets.

135 ACU has members from Kingaroy to Mundubbera.  It parades every second Sunday at the 25/49 RQR army base in Wondai.

National Servicemen’s Association representative Mr Warren Cockburn presented cadets Matthew Champney and Elise Batt with the Karl Sperling Memorial Award

Cadet Ethan Schmidt, from Kingaroy, and Cadet Jimmy Wardell, from Goomeri, were presented with Cadet Leaving awards by Captain Ron Fischer (centre)
