Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt and the Nanango Country Muster have received a total of $50,000 under the latest round of the Events Queensland Regional Development Program.

Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey said today the State Government was proud to continue investing in the region as an events destination.

“The Newman Government recognises the important role events play in attracting visitors to regional areas,” Ms Stuckey said.

“That is why we are pleased to support local events in the Nanango electorate.”

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the funding would deliver tourism, social and economic benefits to the community.

“Tourism is one of the four pillars of the economy and the Newman Government recognises the importance of events in helping us reach our goal to double annual overnight visitor expenditure to $30 billion by 2020,” Ms Frecklington said.

Events to receive funding:

  • Bloomin Beautiful Blackbutt Festival – A community celebration inviting visitors on a festival trail showcasing the arts, garden and country lifestyle of Blackbutt. Held August 31 to September 8, 2013. Funding amount of $45,000 from 2013-2015 through the Significant Regional Event Scheme.
  • Nanango Country Muster – A showcase of Australian music including traditional Bush Balladeers. Held September 12-15, 2013. Funding of $5000 through a Minister’s Development Grant.
