Did you know that during the past year SES volunteers clocked up about 60,000 hours of voluntary work throughout Queensland?
This included tarping roofs, searching bushland to help find missing people, and responding to car smashes.
Community Safety Minister Jack Dempsey has urged Queenslanders this week to give SES volunteers a much deserved “pat on the back”.
Today it was Nanango’s opportunity to say thanks.
The town was badly affected during last year’s floods, which kept local SES crews very busy.
Day 4 of the “Truckload of Thanks” tour set up in Reg McCallum Park to allow local residents to sign the “thank you” SES banners and enjoy a free sausage sizzle.
“Thousands of volunteers across the State go out of their way to complete these tasks and never expect anything in return,” Mr Dempsey said.
“Each volunteer is worth their weight in gold and deserves to know how much they are appreciated in the community.”

The last stopover for the “Truckload Of Thanks”tour in the South Burnett will be at Blackbutt’s Les Muller Park tomorrow (Friday) between 7:30am and 9:30am.
