Planning for the new Southern Queensland Country Tourism region – which covers the South Burnett – will be discussed at an upcoming tourism conference in Toowoomba.

More than 100 delegates and guest speakers will be in Toowoomba on November 13-14 for the 8th annual RACQ Southern Queensland Tourism Industry Conference, hosted by Southern Queensland Country Tourism.

The regional conference, at the Empire Theatre, will offer delegates the opportunity to hear from industry experts on topics such as how social media can impact tourism, “Bring back the Queensland Road Trip”, and working with the media.

On Tuesday, the conference will host “Conversations with Tourism Queensland and Southern Queensland Country Tourism,” offering delegates an opportunity to meet with staff from both organisations to hear about plans for the region.

This will be the first time that Southern Queensland Country Tourism has collaborated with Tourism Queensland to jointly deliver a “Conversations” session.

For more information regarding the conference, contact Project Manager Rebecca Lee on 0427-321-980.

Meanwhile, in a return to the popular touring guides of the past, Southern Queensland Country has announced plans to publish a “travellers guide” in 2013.

The “Southern Queensland Country Travellers Guide” will include a section for each of the tourism area’s sub-regions.

A minimum of 90,000 copies of the guide will be printed and distributed to Visitor Information Centres throughout Queensland and northern NSW, tourism operators, trade shows, RACQ branches, and will be available to download from the “RACQ Virtual Tourist Information Centre”.
