The State Government will not intervene in the axing of jobs at Tarong Power Station and Meandu Mine.
Energy Minister Mark McArdle told ABC Radio this morning that independent Boards run the businesses.
“The power stations and the entities are run by their own Board,” he said.
“We let them operate their day-to-day operations as we should. We do not give them directions as to what to do in regard to how to run their entities.
“We look at what they are achieving by way of an end result – that doesn’t mean the State Government doesn’t care.”
Mr McArdle also again stressed that the State Government would not privatise Stanwell, Ergon, Energex or Powerlink without “a very clear mandate from the people of this State”.
