About 40 soccer players turned up at Kingaroy’s Tom Alford Oval this evening to take part in the first round of the new Summer 7s soccer competition.
Referees and officials from Football South Burnett also put in an appearance, helping to set up the grounds, sign up players and oversee the matches.
A small but enthusiastic group of spectators sat on the sidelines to watch the games and cheer the players on.
The Summer 7s is an initiative designed to provide off-season exercise for the region’s soccer players.
It also aims to help potential new players gain valuable practice and confidence in a non-competitive, social environment.
The Summer 7s will run at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street every Wednesday at 6:00pm through the summer months.
It’s open to players of all levels of abilities, and men and women can both take part.
Unregistered players can obtain a social registration for $25, which will cover them until December 31st, and teams can nominate for $50.
After that, the Tuesday night matches cost $5.
