Premier Campbell Newman and Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington at last year’s Kumbia Melbourne Cup races

October 29, 2012

Queensland Premier Campbell Newman and his Cabinet MPs will be paying a whistlestop visit to the South Burnett next week.

There will be a civic reception in Kingaroy on Monday night (November 5) for the Cabinet Ministers and invited guests.

Premier Newman is expected to arrive at this reception later in the evening after flying in from Longreach.

On Tuesday morning, a full Cabinet meeting will be held at the Kingaroy Council Chambers. This will be a closed meeting (ie not a Community Cabinet) and will not be open to the public.

Later the MPs will travel to Kumbia to enjoy the annual Melbourne Cup day race meeting.

Mr Newman visited the Kumbia races last November while campaigning in the South Burnett in the lead-up to the State election, and promised to return.

Health Minister Lawrence Springborg is also expected to take the opportunity provided to visit Kingaroy Hospital and inspect firsthand the facilities available.

NB. November 5 is going to be a busy day for Premier Newman who will be at Longreach earlier that day to greet Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall on the first day of their Australian tour. The British royal couple are representing the Queen in her Diamond Jubilee year.
