An exciting young cricketer made his A Grade debut for Murgon Crusaders on Saturday in Kingaroy … at the grand old age of 12.
Jared Sippel comes from a well-known cricketing family (his dad is Ashley) but he’s already started to carve out an outstanding sporting career of his own.
The young off-spinner took 4/16 off just four overs in the T20 match against Kingaroy RSL on Saturday, including the wicket of Anthony Eden who’s no slouch with the bat (he topped last season’s South Burnett A Grade average).
Jared then repeated the effort with 3/20 off four overs against Nanango.
His proud mum Leanne told southburnett.com.au that Jared’s commitments with trials for Wide Bay schoolboys – and hopefully Queensland Schoolboys – would probably stop him turning out again for Crusaders until January.
Jared will also be very busy over the next few months with Wide Bay club trials and a possible representative trip coming up to the Barossa Valley.
He was selected in the Wide Bay U12 sides in 2010-11 and 2011-12 where his best bowling figures were 3/9 and 4/9 respectively. His top score with the bat was 63 n/o against Brisbane North Juniors.
