Spin bowler Michael “Freddy” Davies will captain the South Burnett’s representative XI in their opening Goodchild Shield cricket match against Fraser Coast on Sunday.
The 50-over match will be played at Maryborough.
The prestigious Goodchild Shield is contested by four A Grade teams: South Burnett, Fraser Coast, Gympie and Bundaberg.
One match will be played each month before the final is played in January.
South Burnett made it through to the final last season, but lost the last match. They were last victors in 2011.
