Tractor Tattoo trundled into Wondai tonight to coincide with the official opening of local artist Robyn Dower’s exhibition “Distraction”.
Visitors couldn’t help but notice the large red tractor parked in one of the galleries, or the tractor artwork by pupils from Windera State School, or the large interactive tractor jigsaw …
But the real stars of the exhibition were the works by Robyn, in a variety of styles and media, hung in the main gallery and the front room.
Many were already wearing “red dots” – indicating they’d been sold – even before the exhibition was officially opened.
Wondai Art Gallery patron David Carter, who did the honours, summed it up: “Robyn can make something from barbed wire or papier mache and make it look exquisite”.
In the third gallery, Robyn shared the spotlight with her sister Kay and brother-in-law Keith Gorring.
Robyn said Kay had “reconnected with her creative side, especially the poetry” in the work she had prepared for the exhibition.
The exhibitions will remain on show from 10:00am to 4:00pm every day until the end of the month.
